Talk Homework- Talk to your child about Remembrance Day and share why it may be special to your family.

The shared reading text we've completed this week is 'Big Red Bus'. You can access this electronically on the Success For All Phonics Parent Portal.

Keep up with three times a week reading and recording on the Boom Reader App. And please be sure your child has their PE kit every Thursday.

The Kingfisher's settled back into school very well. This week we began our new topic of Celebrations. We began the week learning about the Hindu festival- Diwali. We have then learnt about the history behind Bonfire Night. As you can see above in the photo, the children used hammers, screw drivers, nails and screws in the pumpkins to develop their hand strength and motor skills.

In phonics we learnt l, ll, ss and have been writing words which contain these sounds like 'miss' and 'tell'. We also encountered the tricky words the, he and she.

In maths, we explored the properties of 2D shapes- triangles, rectangles, circles and squares. Today we also used positional vocabulary to make shapes with 4 cubes of different colours by following the verbal instructions eg. put the blue cube on top of the green cube, then the pink cube next to the green cube.

Today was very exciting as for the first time in several years, the whole school gathered for celebration assembly. The children were so well behaved and we are very proud of them.
