We learned about the differences between the words 'there, their and they're'.

Please continue to practise the rules we have been learning over the last few weeks, including:
The 'j' sound using the letters g, ge and dge
The 's' sound using the letters ce, c, se
Comparing words ending in y/ey

Reading:
Please read every day and log your reading on Boom Reader.
You can read your school shared reading book 'Lost', your banded book or a book from home.

Maths:
Please practice either Numbots/TT Rockstars or Doodle Maths - 45 minutes per week of any/each of the apps to support our Maths learning.
You can also practise your 2, 5 and 10x tables on Topmarks - Hit the Button Game

What a week we have had in Year 2!
Despite being a four day week, we have still managed to have a jam-packed week full of learning!

We introduced the children to our new CLPE using a story bag full of clues - we discovered a map with a journey from Africa to Paris, a crown, a scroll with a note saying 'take this gift' and a giraffe! The children thought about what the story might be about and told their own stories using the clues as their guide.

In Maths we have been very busy recapping what we already know about telling the time, and the children are now secure in telling the time to o'clock and half past the hour. We will continue this next week by looking at quarter past and quarter to the hour and finally move onto looking at telling the time to the nearest five minutes - any support you can provide at home with looking at time and practising to the hour and half past the hour would be great!

We introduced our new Global Learning goal 'No Poverty' and discussed what the word 'Poverty' actually means. We had a really interesting discussion and the children learned a lot about how it isn't just about being poor, it might mean that we are poorly, have no money, are not safe or that they do not have the things that they need to be clean and healthy.

We want to say a huge thank you to the children for their fantastic behaviour and attitudes this week and to you all for your kind words and support - please make sure that you have a lovely restful weekend and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday!

Best wishes,
Miss Freeman and the Y2 Team
