Take a look at the phonics assessment sheet in your child's bag and the further information about what each section means in your child's Boom reader message. Then give your child a little more support at home in any areas they are finding trickier.
Enjoy a lovely half term break!
We have been oh so busy this week! On Tuesday, we had the most amazing locality walk to learn more about all the geographical features of our village. The parent support we had for this meant so much as all the children got to hear and learn so much vocabulary.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs Jones (Mrs Woodward's mummy) popped in to talk about what education was like when she was 4 and 5 years old. We learnt that she didn't have a uniform, they went home for a hot dinner at lunchtime then returned to school for a nap!!! There was one toy; a rocking horse, which you had to wait ages for your turn on. The only other activities were drawing or reading. The toilets were a long walk outside in the cold too!!! We decided we prefer school nowadays although the staff were quite keen on the nap idea!!!!
Today and yesterday, the children used the knowledge they had gained about Buckden Village during our walk to create a model village. The worked for 2 mornings on this project and did an incredible job recreating the church, houses, school, pubs, towers and shops and even the playground.
Thank you so much to all who came and joined us for the Koinonia show and share afternoon. It was so clear to see how proud the children were of themselves.
