Year 3 are in the festive spirit!

This week we have been creative, designing mono-prints of the Three Wise Men. The children will be using them to create Christmas cards. The mono print is a form of printmaking where the image can only be made once, unlike most printmaking which allows for multiple originals.

On Wednesday, Year 3 took part in the inter-house football tournament. The rain and cool temperatures did not dampen the children’s mood! The pupils played several football matches, with each year group showing grit and determination to win points for their houses. We will find out the results after the lower school tournament takes place next week and the totals are tallied.

The children mentioned maths as their most enjoyable subject this week. In arithmetic, we have been revising our timetables. Memorising timetables makes it far quicker for children to work out mental maths problems in their heads. Moving beyond using their fingers to work out answers, they'll be able to use their knowledge to quickly solve any multiplication questions. Can you encourage your children to complete TT Rockstars as often as possible? It will help them to progress in maths lessons. Year 3 enjoyed learning about inverse numbers and revised estimations. They worked so hard and mastered what was a challenging topic for them at first.

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Keating, Mrs Jaynes and Mrs Tarpey.
