This week’s spellings: gently, simply, responsibly, terribly, humbly, durably, wrinkly

T T Rockstars: Please ensure that the children complete 45 mins of play.

This week has been jam-packed. We welcomed the parents in for parent’s consultations, and we were happy to share their progress with you.

This week we have continued with our English text for the term which is named ‘Varmints’. We are learning about sustainable cities this half-term and the book describes a cityscape that is unsustainable; where landscapes such as fields and meadows are destroyed to make way for a dark and dank metropolis. Toby says he particularly liked the images from the book.

We have been rehearsing for our play called Rockpool. The children have been using their oracy skills, practising projection of their voices and learning the correct annunciation for their lines. The children have worked so hard to memorise their lines. We ask that they continue to rehearse them at home please.

On Thursday, we celebrated World Book Day. We shared our favourite books with each other and drank hot chocolate. Year 3 attended a session with Laura Baker who wrote The Full Stop That Got Away. We also took part in a Taskmaster-themed quiz during assembly where we were given some text from a book, and we had to guess which book it came from.

Following on from last week’s lesson on the structure of plants, we predicted what could happen when we immerse carnations and celery into red-coloured water. We will revisit them after the weekend and see if there have been any changes to their structure or colouring.

Please continue to add any books that your child has read to Boom Reader.
