Practise spellings for Monday's quiz: deceive, conceive, receive, perceive, protein, caffeine, seize, either, neither and ceiling. Math/SPAG homework is due on Thursday, as is 30 minutes of TTRockstars.
Thank you for supporting World Book Day this year - your children's costumes looked brilliant – and a massive thank you to Lucas' mum for delivering hot chocolate to the whole school (it was a real highlight for the children). Today, we had a zoom meeting with MC Grammar about his new book 'Rap Kid', who introduced us to rapping children's books. Due to technical difficulties, they were unable to hear his version of the Gruffalo so I've included a couple of links here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lOCvwDV9Ik (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNSwnCS-k5Y).
Year 5 are excited to begin casting for our play next week – Dragon Days. We are holding auditions for speaking/singing parts on Friday. They can perform anything they like (30secs - 1min long) for a speaking and singing role – the focus is on their intonation and performance of their piece. It's a comedy, so we're looking for lots of personality.
This week we've dived into our Sustainable Cities SDG and have been exploring environmentally-friendly and sustainable features in cities as well as architecture. Next week, we'll be designing our own sustainable buildings in art and researching sustainable cities ahead of filming our own documentaries.
In Math, we're continuing to build an understanding of converting imperial measurements into metric measurements. Why not practice at home, too, by converting your pints of milk into millimetres and then litres or measuring in feet and then converting it to inches, then cm.
In History, we've begun to link our learning about the Anglo-Saxons with the arrival of the Vikings and we've written some wonderful free verse poetry linked to our new literacy book.
Have a good weekend,
Mrs Schmidt, Miss Conlong and Mrs Anderson
