Talk homework- Please could the children bring in a baby photo with their name on the back. We will be playing a guessing game. If you don't have a physical photo then please email eyfs@buckdenacademy.org and we can print them out.
Reading- at least three times a week and record using the Boom Reader app with a comment please.
This week the children have started to read independently the book 'Tap, Tap, Tap'. The children have been so proud of themselves, sounding out and blending the words. They will be bringing home books with words next week. It is very exciting! The sounds taught this week were g o c and k. Next week we will be learning ck, e, u and r. We look forward to sharing how we teach phonics at the Reading meeting on Tuesday night!
In maths, we have been exploring the vocabulary of measurement. We read the story, 'Dear Zoo' and then created suitably sized homes for our dinosaur zoo. We have used sand and water play to explore the vocabulary of capacity, including full, empty, half full, nearly full and nearly empty; we used balance scales to explore the vocabulary of mass, including heavy and light.
In music, we are getting really good at finding the pulse in familiar nursery rhymes, including 'Pat a Cake'.
We have talked a lot about Autumn this week. We have explored Autumn leaves and used powder paints to mix the shades. We also went for a walk and used our senses to enjoy the Autumnal changes.
In PSHE, we have created our 'Mind Apples' and learnt about the parts of our brain: prefrontal cortex, hippocampus and amygdala. The children have learnt how we need to be kind to our minds and take time to do things we enjoy- our Mind Apples!
