In Computing we have learnt how to make our characters jump on our programming app, Scratch.

We have enjoyed our fiction text ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ in English. We have learnt about the characters and questions. We are going onto setting descriptions.

We completed a new warm up, coping different actions of ‘Jump Start Jonny’.

Here are some photographs of our weekly fine motor skill activities. This helps us develop our muscles in our hands to help with our writing.

Talk homework – Talk about your favourite fairytale book and bring it in to share.

In our English we have planned and made a page each, writing about our toys, using non-fiction sentences to make a giant class book.

In Mathematics we have been learning how to subtract. We have talked about the different vocabulary (subtract, minus and take away). We have completed subtraction problems by crossing out, jumping back and using a subtraction machine.

We have been to church this week to remember the soliders in the wars and we watched a special video to help us remember.

In Science we have made firework pictures and found out that it was better to create our chalk pictures on black paper rather than white, discussing the differnce in watching fireworks at night in the dark to if we watched them during the day in the light.

Daily reading – Please read everyday

We made a dark tent in our classroom and explored how difficult it is to find things in the dark. This helped our Science learning of light and dark.

We have had fun bringing in our favourite toys from home. We have written non-fiction sentences about them in our English lessons.

We are really enjoying doing ‘Big Maths’ on Fridays.

We have been using Scratch in our computing lesson to learn how to programme.

We have been also solving addition problem stories using pictures in Mathematics.

In English we have been extending our sentences by using ‘and’.

We have been making cars in our topic lesson and thinking about how to make them move.

We have been reading room on the broom and thinking about the main character, beginning, middle and end.

We had a great time doing a transport traffic survey today to end our topic of Transport.

In Topic we have designed a mode of transport and we are very excited to be making them this week.

Today we have written our Handa’s surprise stories with are own alternative ending.

In phonics we have been continuing to learn our focus phonemes, digraphs and trigraphs.

In Science we have tested our boats and written up our experiment stating whether they sunk or if they floated.

We have all enjoyed our guided reading sessions, in small groups.

We have been learning the book Handa’s surprise and tasting all of the delicious fruits that she collects. We have also been role-playing the story, each becoming an animal from the journey Handa went on.

In PE with Miss Lizell we have been furthering our throwing a catching skills and some of us even got a housepoint for great participation! Well done!!! We also warmed up with a fun game of tag.

We have begun our Maths no problem books and working super hard to complete our learning in comparing objects this week.

In English this week we have been learning about ‘WOW Words’ (adjectives). We have used these in our ‘Big Write’ to describe the bear cave in ‘Can’t you sleep Little Bear’.

In Mathematics we have been learning about subtraction and using different learning tools to help us find the answer to calculations within 20.

In Science we are looking forward to building our boats. Thank you for all the contributions towards this.

In RE we have looked at God the creator and thanked him for his creations.

We have been superstar Year ones this week and completed our first ever ‘Big Write’. We have written instructions of how to make a Jam sandwich, that we made and ate on Tuesday.

We have also completed ‘Big Maths Beat That’ this week. We all tried very hard! In Mathematics we have been furthering our learning of shapes and identifying 3D shapes and their properties.

In RE we have been learning and sequencing the creation story.
