I am 44 and the father of two boys at Buckden School; Dickie who is in Gruffalos (Yr3) and Harry who is in Cheetahs (Yr1). My background is in farming; I grew up on a dairy farm in Somerset and have worked in the agriculture industry all my life. I currently run my own consultancy business, working with both government and private sector clients in the area of new technology development for agriculture and the food industry .
A keen former rugby player and Northampton Saints supporter, in my spare time I now coach the under 8s at Huntingdon Rugby Club; many of whom are pupils at Buckden school. The squad are enjoying a very successful first couple of seasons, having won the East Midlands championship at under 7s last year and have picked up where they left off at under 8s. I am also a keen follower of test cricket in the summer and enjoy the occasional days shooting in the winter when I’m not coaching rugby.
I live in Church Street with my wife Katie, our two boys, and our border terrier, Boris. In keeping with our farming roots, we also have a small herd of Berkshire Pigs, that live in the grounds of Buckden Towers and who, when the time comes, make the most delicious pork and bacon!
In my capacity as a parent governor I have recently assumed the role of ‘Maths link’ governor and look forward to working with the staff to support the development of this important area of the curriculum, as Buckden Primary develops as an academy.
