I am a mum of 2 boys at Buckden School, Harrison in Year 4 and Harvey in Year 2. I have always held an active role in Buckden School, as part of the FOBs committee helping with all of the fundraising events and helping out weekly as a parent helper in my sons classes. I was therefore really please to be elected to the role of Parent Governor last year as I saw this as a real opportunity to make a difference with my contributions.
My working career (before children) was as a Buyer for Sainsburys – dealing with a diverse range of both big and small brands, big and small budgets and big and small characters! More recently I now work part time as a Marketing Manager for a range of small brands on the supermarkets shelves.
It has been an unusual year for the Governing Body with our change to Academy status and a lot of our focus has been about ensuring the effective implementation of this into the school. As a new governor during this time I was not able to contribute too much other than to listen and learn but now a year on I feel able to contribute and am looking forward to working with Mrs Heather in my new role as Link Governor for Literacy. As Ofsted commented, “Actions to raise attainment in English are showing signs of success,” and my intention is to now contribute by continuing to support the school in maximising all pupils progress and attainment in English.
