I started at Buckden School as a parent volunteer in 1998 and at the same time started a City and Guilds in Learning Support at Huntingdon Regional College. I successfully completed this course in June 1999 and was employed by Buckden School in September 1999 as a Teaching Assistant in the Foundation Stage. I remained a full time Teaching Assistant in the Foundation Stage until September 2009 when I felt a need for change and joined Year 2 in the mornings, continuing in the Foundation Stage in the afternoons. In January 2010 I became the Year 2 Key worker and therefore full time teaching assistant in Year 2, which I am to this day. During my time at Buckden School I have attended many courses including; Phonological awareness and reading, Using observation for assessment, Child protection, Behaviour management, Supporting children through bereavement, Using ICT as a learning tool, Wave 3 Reading intervention, First aid, and Level 3 Support work in schools.
I also share the role of Extended schools Co-ordinator with Mrs.Simpson.
