My name is Melanie Anderson. I was born in South Wales and spent my formative years here. My first Language is Welsh followed by English which I learnt when I went to Primary School. This meant I was bilingual from a very early age!
My love of languages and of other cultures continued throughout secondary education and as a result I studied languages at the University of Wales, Swansea. During my first year I studied Italian, French and Spanish. Finally, I opted to concentrate on Spanish and French for the remaining three years. During this time I lived and studied in universities in both Bilbao in the North of Spain and Caen in Normandy, France. In 1997 I graduated from university with joint honours in both Spanish and French. During this period I also met my future husband, currently serving in the Royal Air Force.
I have been married for 15 years and have two daughters, Hannah-May and Emily, both of whom attend Buckden Primary School.
As a result of my husband’s service in the RAF, my family and I have travelled extensively across the UK, finally settling in Brampton. Over the last five years I have been employed within children’s education at various levels from Nursery and Pre-school through to Year Six at Primary school. My passion for teaching young children has continued unabated and I have undertaken lots of further training and education including courses on Autism and Asperger Syndrome and Children and Adolescent Mental Health.
I have recently qualified as a HLTA and as such I am responsible for the provision of Modern Foreign Languages and various intervention groups within Buckden Primary School.
I am very much looking forward to the challenge of delivering these key roles within the school and assure you that I am fully committed to all children’s educational experience and development.
In my spare time I participate in horse riding and like to relax in the company of my family.
